Year 3

Welcome to Year 3! We have settled into Key Stage 2 well and looking forward to the rest of the year. A highlight for Term 1 was our Science Trip to Communigrow, where we learnt all about plants. Term 2 - This term our focus is the Arts.                                                                                                     We are looking forward to our first sessions with Mrs Bedford in her new Art studio. We will be learning about Still Life and developing our understand of line, shape, colour, texture and composition. We will also have Music lessons on composition, related to our Science topic of Rocks.

Our history unit will be focused on the Stone Age to Iron Age. We will be looking at how people survived during these times and the different technology that they used. We will also explore their art work of cave paintings.

In English, we will also be focusing on the Stone Age, with a focus on the story of Stone Age Boy, Satoshi Kitamura.

Maths -This term we will be finalising our unit on addition and subtraction. We will then be moving on to multiplication and division facts including the x2,x3,x5,x4 and x8 tables.

Please don't forget to also practise times-tables at home.

Homework -

Ensure you listen to your child read each night and then sign the reading record.

TTRS - Children can use the Times Tables Rockstars app to learn their times tables. Practising little and often will help the children with learning their tables.

Atom - We have a few questions each week to help the children recap their learning.

EdShed - Practising the spellings using games will improve spellings and word knowledge - we set this weekly.

Completing homework will help children in their learning and reinforce knowledge and memory.
